Abstract
In this letter, a microstrip fed helix antenna with more than 40% bandwidth is presented. The application of conventional helix antenna was limited by radiation pattern in different fields. By this means, a novel rhomboid plate structure is employed to widened beamwidth of the helix antenna in the whole bands. The beamwidth of the proposed antenna is reduced to ± 60° over the impedance matching bandwidth ranging from 8GHz to 12GHz $(\mathbf{VSWR} , which is an improvement to the previously reported helix antennas.
