Abstract

A Hamiltonian method with a lineat supplementary condition is proposed, and is applied to a many-particle system in order to see how the independent particle model can be justified. A particle interacting with a field is also dealt with in terms of this formalism. Our formalism is found to be useful to treat systems of many degrees of freedom without destroying the symmetry and the translation invariance.
