Abstract

This compendium is primarily intended to inform attorneys and other advocates based in the United States who seek to assist human trafficking victims in obtaining relief on civil causes of action in U.S. courts. The following material focuses on civil litigation on causes of action arising out of international law, over which U.S. courts have jurisdiction principally through the Alien Tort Statute. The compendium also gives an overview of other forums in which human trafficking victims may bring civil claims for harm suffered by virtue of being trafficked.
