Abstract

A new method for one-step synthesis of oxazolo[3,2-c] pyrimidine core and its derivatives has been developed in inexpensive and green bio-based solvent lactic acid without any additional catalysts and additives. Density functional theory calculations located the reaction pathway and identified the intermolecular nucleophilic addition step to be the rate-limiting step. By this method, twenty new oxazolo[3,2-c] pyrimidine derivatives were synthesized in high yield and characterized by spectroscopic analysis and X-ray diffraction.
