Abstract

A technique for obtaining graphical solutions to magnetic particle optics problems is described for the cases of: quadrupole magnets, uniform field and (special) nonuniform field bending magnets, including the effects of oblique entrance and exit angles. A method of including first-order momentum dispersion in the bending magnets is developed. The classical construction methods of the geometrical optics of thin lenses are employed. Application of the technique is shown for a few magnetic systems.
