Abstract

From U Fund Conf Corre of An otherwise healthy 9-year-old girl presented with lusterless, unruly hair that seldom required cutting. Her mother denied any hair-pulling behavior, the occurrence of inflammatory scalp lesions, or bald patches. The girl’s brother had the same hair features, whereas her sister had normal hair growth. The physical examination revealed a girl with matte, shaggy hair on a normal scalp (Fig 1); there were no tooth or nail abnormalities. Her hair pull test was positive and caused minimal discomfort; a predominance of anagen hairs ([80%) was seen on trichogram. Trichoscopy and light microscopy results are shown (Figs 2 and 3).
