Abstract
This research aimed to understand the social, economic and environmental reality of agents that compose associations recyclers Caxias do Sul/RS, addressing the issue of solid waste management and the casualization of labor in the region. The study aimed to recover and analyze environmental problems caused by waste, to alert the need to seek ways to mitigate these impacts, looking for solid waste recycling as an environmental alternative. For the development of research adopted the method of case study with historical-structural approach and collection of ad hoc information on recycling unit. From the collected and contextualized information about recycling units in the city of Caxias do Sul/RS, infer are possible alternatives to these drives to achieve the best potential for employment and income, also including considerations that may assist organizations through social actions of local government in order to address issues arising from this theme.
