Abstract

New times, new wars and new challenges. The three classic dimensions of the battlefield: land, naval and air no longer cover all aspects of conflict. To them was added the spatial dimension, cyberspace, the networked environment and an almost infinite capacity for storing information that allows the connection of the real battlefield with the virtual. The enemy may be a political, religious or terrorist faction. In the case of Brazil, the new demands of Brazilian society in the area of public security (Constabulary Function), aid for natural disasters, support for major events and specific demands such as Covid-19 are added. This study aims to present the impact that these challenges have generated on the Brazilian Armed Forces, with the purpose of contributing to a more efficient and effective management of the military apparatus in favor of society and the country's interests.
