Abstract

This text seeks to develop a reflection on the democratic management of education, as a constitutional principle, for the realization of the right to education in the Federal Constitution - 1988. To this end, it conducts a discussion of the meanings of democracy in Brazilian education in different historical contexts. It also seeks to demonstrate that the discussion of democracy in education today can not depart from the constitutional principles of "freedom to learn, teach, research and disseminate thought, art and knowledge" and "pluralism of ideas " pedagogical conceptions and coexistence of public educational institutions " in view of the emergence of conservative movements that restrict these principles, like the "Escola Sem Partido". &nbsp
