Abstract

In addition to the structural reforms that inaugurated elements in the public management of the State Department of Education of Rio de Janeiro (SEEDUC), expressed through goals established in its strategic planning, was also presented the Integrated School Management (GIDE), a system of management that covers strategic, political and managerial aspects of the educational area with focus on results. According to SEEDUC, through the implementation of GIDE each school unit would have a diagnosis of their situation and could give priority to the causes of the problems, helping the state to raise its results in the Index of Development of Basic Education (IDEB). In this sense, we observe the close link between GIDE and target culture, which ultimately leads to the elevation of IDEB. Under careful analysis it is possible to identify that the emphasis on managerial aspects is associated with performativity. Thus, the present text intends to present the proposal of GIDE, to relate it to the managerial context of the educational policy of Rio de Janeiro, and to reflect on the implications of the introduction of a new model of educational management in the State.
