Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss international geopolitics from the insertion of the pharmaceutical industry worldwide. The pharmaceutical industry has established itself internationally from the Second World War, with the sale of penicillin. It was from 1945 that there was a reconfiguration of this sector at the international level with the US presence from strategic alliances among pharmaceutical industry, universities and new research centers specialized in biotechnology and genetic engineering. Strengthening the international pharmaceutical industry occurred from the TRIPS agreement, which enabled the basis of large multinational companies as well as the repositioning of countries regarding this sector. Purpose is to achieve with this article to discuss the main changes in industrial policy geared towards the pharmaceutical industry in Brazil and China, focusing on the main competitive advantages of the pharmaceutical industry of both countries, and to identify the main problems of the Brazilian pharmaceutical industry in relation to Chinese.
