Abstract
A geo-electric survey in some parts of Amaigbo in Imo State was conducted for the determination of potential groundwater aquifer. Using the Schlumberger Array techniques, Vertical Electrical Sounding along with Self-Potential Well Logging was carried out at six (6) VES in Amaigbo using the ABEM SAS 1000 Terrameter and ABEM SAS 1000 Logger respectively. The field data obtained was analysed using the computer software IPI2win. The result obtained revealed the heterogenous nature of the sub surface geo-electrical sequences in the study area. The results revealed the aquifer resistivities in the study are ranges from 352 ohm-meter to 7514 ohm-meter and aquifer thickness from 45m to 119m which indicates that the study area has high aquifer potentials for groundwater exploitation. The result from this study would therefore assist indigenes of Amaigbo in reducing the high cases of borehole failure due to improper drilling a d inadequate hydrogeological; data here in provided.
