Abstract
A genetics counseling clinic was established at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute in July 1971, staffed jointly by medical geneticists and mental health professionals. The authors discuss the emotional implications of genetic disorders for families, and the advantages of locating such clinics in mental health settings.
