Abstract
In this paper a generalized theory of thermoelasticity for an anisotropic medium is formulated using a form of the heat transport equation which includes the time needed for acceleration of the heat flow. A uniqueness theorem is presented for the equations of generalized thermoelasticity in the case of an anisotropic elastic body. The variational principle corresponding to basic equations of generalized thermoelasticity for an anisotropic medium is derived.
