Abstract
In this paper, a generalized parametric iterative method (GPIM) is proposed to solve the nonlinear discrete formulation of the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations. We exploit the idea of decoupling to solve the strongly coupled MHD system, expecting to save storage space and to accelerate the convergence. The noticeable advantage of the proposed algorithm is that it is not necessary to solve the saddle point system for each iteration step and converge geometrically with the contract number. Numerical experiments are given to verify the validity and correctness of the theoretical results.
