Abstract

A general purpose software system for data acquisition and process control on PERKIN-ELMER 32-bit computers is discussed. Features of the package including CAMAC parallel and serial highway support, FORTRAN and PASCAL callable subroutines, LAM handling, IEEE block transfer modes, and power failure and crate status monitoring are outlined. System performance in terms of memory size, data rates, and software overhead is covered. Current applications of the package for the NASA Space Shuttle program, by a solar observatory, for a fusion reactor, and for a particle accelerator are described.
