Abstract

A general model considering the nonlinear stress-strain relationship of the bowed-out dislocation line with arbitrary orientation is proposed for the generation of acoustic nonlinearity of the mixed dislocation. Results show that the acoustic nonlinearity depends on the orientation of the dislocation line and exhibits a significant nonlinearity with the fraction of screw dislocation. This indicates that the traditional linear weighted method may cause an overestimation of acoustic nonlinearity. The proposed model is further validated by the experimental measurements of the cold rolled plate of 304 stainless steel (SS).
