Abstract
An optimization analysis is employed to estimate the unknown boundary conditions over the surface of enclosures and shields in radiation equilibrium from the knowledge of the boundary condition over the surface of an enclosure surrounding them. The discrete transfer method is employed to solve the radiative transfer equation. The conjugate gradient method is used for minimization of a convenient objective function, which is represented by the sum of square values of net heat flux through the shields. The performance of the present technique is evaluated by several numerical experiments on two- and three-dimensional enclosure shield systems.
