Abstract

During the work of a system two types of failures may occur: Type 1 failures are removed by minimal repairs, type 2 failures are removed by replacements. Failure type probabilities are allowed to depend on the system age at failure time. Reliability criteria are derived and maintenance policies are proposed. The results are shown to be a suitable theoretical background for investigating repair limit replacement policies. The case of Weibull-distributed lifetimes is discussed in detail.
