Abstract

We consider a gauged nonlinear sigma model (GNLSM) obtained by introducing the vector gauge field A μ ( ξ μ ) into the usual (ungauged) nonlinear sigma model (NLSM) [1,2], and then study the instant-form (IF) and light-front (LF) dynamics of this GNLSM. The canonical structure of the model reveals that the model remains gauge-invariant (GI) in both the forms of dynamics. This is in contrast with the usual (ungauged) NLSM, which lacks gauge invariance. Finally the model is Hamiltonian and Becchi-Rouet-Stora and Tyutin (BRST) quantized under some specific gauge choices in both the forms of dynamics.
