Abstract

AbstractFrom retention volumes, determined over a wide range of temperatures, solute molar volumes, and fugacities of the solute vapours, standard partial molar free enthalpies and entropies and enthalpies of mixing in infinitely dilute solution in apiezon M were calculated at a range of temperatures. The residual standard partial molar free enthalpies and entropies and the standard partial molar enthalpies of mixing of the normal and branched alkanes were interpreted with the (simplified) Prigogine solution model, those of the normal alkanes. cyclohexane. benzene, and tetrachloromethane with the solution theory of Flory, Orwoll, and Vrij.
