Abstract

In this paper, a high-efficiency solar optimizer with a new modulation method is proposed for wide range regulation. The converter is designed as a series resonant converter under nominal-input condition where the voltage step-up ratio is entirely determined by transformer. A new modulation method with fixed switching frequency is proposed to gain a higher voltage step-up ratio for low-input conditions. The proposed modulation method does not add any auxiliary power switches compared with previous works while it yields wide range regulation. A 300-W hardware prototype using Gallium-Nitride devices is built to verify the performance of the proposed solar optimizer.
