Abstract
The variational method has been used to obtain approximate solutions of the nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation and KdV equation by Hsieh, and the numerical solitary wave solutions of cylindrical nonlinear KdV equations by Chwang and Wu. The author has already used the Galerkin method to obtain approximate solutions of some highly nonlinear KdV equations and Schrödinger equations. In the present paper, we shall employ the Galerkin method to obtain approximate solutions of cylindrical nonlinear equations.
