Abstract
Licence to Kill: A β-galactosidase-responsive molecular “Trojan horse” was designed to selectively kill folate receptor-positive tumor cells. The recognition of the folate membrane receptor is followed by the internalization and the subsequent enzymatic activation of the targeting assembly to release the cytotoxic agent in a stringently controlled fashion exclusively inside the targeted cells.
