Abstract

A gain control baseline circuit for the analog front-ends circuit of the 1000base-t Ethernet transceiver is presented here. The circuit is composed of a baseline wanderer canceller and the VGA (Variable Gain Amplifier). The baseline wanderer canceller is used to correct baseline wander, an unexpected phenomenon. The VGA, which also has the property of pre-equalizer and low-pass filter, is used to adjust the input signal to achieve the requirement of the system. The circuit is fabricated by 0.18 mm 3.3 V CMOS process and its simulation results are shown in detail.
