Abstract

This paper presents a GA-based optimization algorithm for cutting tool “Shape-performance-application” integrated design (CTSPAID) approach that is for increasing the accuracy and adaptability of cutting tool design. Within the method, there are two important parts, establishment of objective function and determination of the interval of the targeted parameters. The dimensionless process is carried out for very single functions for the final objective function, and the weight factors are dispatched to the single objectives based on the paired complicated method and analytic hierarchy process. Three types of relationship between the targeted factors and objectives is classified, factor with a single objective, factors with a single objective, and factors with multiple objectives. The methods for the intervals are also proposed for three type, respectively. Finally, in order to provide a platform for the GA-based optimization algorithm, the architecture of CTSPAID system is constructed, and also its user interface is showed.
