Abstract

This paper considers the application or fuzzy logic-based control to a DC motor drive system. The DC drive system is a DC series motor driven by a single-phase full bridge power converter. Two fuzzy controllers are proposed for the drive system, namely, speed and current controllers. Fuzzy control laws are developed to regulate the motor speed and maintain the current at a limiting value. A simulation study of the fuzzy controlled drive system has been carried out to validate the proposed controllers. The simulation result clarifies the superiority of the designed fuzzy controllers over classical PI controllers.
