Abstract

In this paper, we discuss precision alignment of deployable optical surfaces. One application of this technology is the deployable optical telescope testbed at the AFRL/VS. This application requires the alignment of the segmented primary mirrors after deployment. The goal for this research is to implement feedback control to control the x-axis position, y-axis position, and the piston position of the three primary segmented mirrors located on the deployable optical telescope. Various mechanisms are being developed to implement feedback control systems to control the position of these mirrors to ensure precise post-deployment alignment.
