Abstract

(1) The accelerating action of sensory stimulation upon the epinephrine output from the suprarenal glands was definitely demonstrated again by employing the “cava pocket” method in dogs whose abdominal wall and viscera had been previously de-afferented by the section of twelve pairs of the dorsal roots from the IV. thoracic cord to the II. lumbar. (2) The degrees of the so-called spontaneous epinephrine liberation in the de-afferented dogs were generally lower in comparison with the normal (not de-afferented), anaesthetized dogs. Marked differences of the degrees of the degrees of epinephrine output were, however, detected among them. (3) Sensory stimulation seems to decrease the residual epinephrine content of the suprarenal glands, though not so definitely.
