Abstract
1. A fungus-like structure was present in healthy tubers ofSolanum tuberosum and 45 otherSolanum species. 2. The fungus was present in all tubers examined. 3. A similar fungus was present in tissue cultures derived from the tubers, stems, rhizomes and leaf petioles ofSolanum tuberosum. 4. Tissue cultures free of the fungus were produced. 5. The fungus failed to grow on media commonly used to isolate microorganisms. 6. The fungus was seed borne within surface sterilized potato seeds.
