Abstract
Treatment of [RhCl(PPh 3) 3] with (C 7H 4NS) 2PCH 2CH 2P(C 7H 4NS) 2 (BTPE) in tetrahydrofuran gives the complex [RhCl(PPh 3)(BTPE)] which oxidises in the presence of CHCl 3 to form [RhCl(BTPE)] 2][RhCl 4(BTPE)] 2, whose X-ray structure shows the cation to have the BTPE spanning two rhodiums by PN ligation.
