Abstract

Sueoka has pointed out a correlation between per cent amino acid in protein and per cent CG (cytosine plus guanine) in DNA for bacteria. A correlation also appears to exist between per cent doublet sequence in DNA and per cent CG. If these correlations are expressed as linear functions, it follows that a linear correlation exists between per cent amino acid in protein and per cent doublet sequence in DNA. These correlations confirm the predictions of Sueoka (1961) and are consistent with currently proposed codes (Speyer et al., 1962) .
