Abstract

We give a formal solution of the single — particle Green's function of a scalar field in an external gravitational field in functional integral form. The problem is solved by introducing an internal coordinate ξ and making all operators as commuting functions of the variable ξ. The operator products are rearranged from right to left in the order of increasing ξ. This is achieved by generalizing Feynman's theorem on disentangling operator expressions to include derivative and nonpolynomial interactions.
