Abstract

A fully-on-chip analog low-dropout (LDO) regulator with negative charge pump for low-voltage applications is presented in this brief. The proposed design utilizes a negative charge pump as the controller ground to provide extended voltage headroom for the error amplifier and the power transistor, which enables high accuracy and high efficiency regulation under the limited supply voltage. The proposed design is implemented in a 65-nm CMOS process with 0.045 mm2 active area. The measured results show that the proposed design can regulate a 1 ${\mu }\text{A}$ to 45 mA output current with 100 mV dropout voltage under 0.6 V input. The quiescent current of the LDO is 21 ${\mu }\text{A}$ .
