Abstract

A free boundary problem arising in the treatment of oxygen absorption in tissue is viewed as a problem with non-linear absorption on a fixed domain. Existence and uniqueness results for the solution of the free boundary problem are obtained. The results are generalized to a wider class of absorption functions and initial conditions, and also to higher dimensional parabolic and elliptic free boundary problems.
