Abstract

Synchronous generator parameters are an important subset of input data to various power system studies. These parameters influence steady-state and dynamic behavior of the generator. This paper presents a framework to derive the parameters of a synchronous generator from grid connection test measurements. An industry standard generator model has been adopted to accurately match test measurements and simulation results obtained with the derived parameters. The proposed framework optimizes the parameters of the model to a higher accuracy level contributing to the fidelity of simulation results. A practical study is presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed framework.
