Abstract

The primary objective of this study was to develop a framework for the identification of political environmental issues faced by multinational hotel chains in newly industrialized countries in Asia. The study used the Delphi research methodology to identify events in the following categories of the political environment: law and regulation, administrative, judicial and lobby ing. A total of 17 Delphi respondents representing all aspects of the hospitality industry identified 58 events that were considered important to the monitoring of the political environment. The 58 events are proposed as a classification system for continuous scanning of the political environment.
