Abstract

The inclusion of nonfiction texts in the elementary classroom interests teachers and researchers alike. However, there is an inconsistent use of terms applied to this body of research, including informational texts, informational books, and expository texts, among others. In this article, an organizing framework for nonfiction is presented to facilitate a more precise understanding of the role and impact of different nonfiction forms.
