Abstract

In this paper, to improve the control accuracy and robustness of medium-speed maglev trains, a speed control methodology based on fractional order PID (FOPID) tuned through particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed. According to the proposed methodology, the coefficients of train aerodynamic resistance are identified via PSO algorithm. A FOPID speed controller whose coefficients are tuned via PSO algorithm is designed to track the desired speed trajectory and reduce the effects of various resistances in the train operation process. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed FOPID speed controller, some simulations are conducted. The simulation results show that the proposed speed control algorithm can effectively improve the speed control performance.
