Abstract

A compact novel slotted upper WLAN band notched Ultrawide band (UWB) antenna is reported. The proposed antenna consists of a novel slotted patch structure with a 50$\Omega$ micro strip line feed along with a defected ground structure (DGS). The size of the proposed antenna is 16×22mm 2 with an impedance bandwidth ranging from 3.36-16.05 GHz to cover UWB with upper WLAN band 5.35-5.93 GHz is notched by utilizing a novel notched via element. The proposed antenna is having stable radiation patterns, consistent gain except for the notched band, and a peak radiation efficiency of 93.2% making it suitable for WLAN band-notched UWB wireless communication applications.
