As early as my sophomore year in college, I began receiving calls from my university alumni association soliciting donations. Earning my college degree seemed to make me an even bigger target for charitable solicitations from various organizations. There are so many worthy organizations, and it's great to help our universities prepare for future generations of graduates, but students and young professionals may not have philanthropic resources available, especially as we tackle student loans and save for our futures. We all may be a little guilty of avoiding or ignoring information coming from nonprofit organizations, thinking they are just trying to get something out of our paltry bank accounts, although they may have an important message to share.
