Abstract

A new formalism is developed for describing the stochastic neutron transport by the forward approach. This is used to derive a forward stochastic transport equation for this process. The first moment of this equation is the usual transport equation for the singlet density while higher moments yield equations for the doublet and higher multiplet densities. The present method avoids many of the difficulties inherent in the forward equation approach to the problem discussed by many authors as well as the rather complicated functional technique. The equation can however be converted into a simple functional form which is then used to establish a connection with the backward equation and a compact derivation of the moments equations.
