Abstract
By thoroughly considering the fluid-structure interaction, this paper aims to analytically analyze the free vibration of liquid sloshing in partially-filled two-dimensional flexible rectangular tanks. It is assumed that the fluid is compressible, irrotational and inviscid. Additionally, a closed-form formula is derived for estimating the fundamental natural frequency of this system by performing comprehensive curve fitting. Through various numerical examples, the correctness of authors’ exact solutions is corroborated, and the effects of different parameters on sloshing natural frequencies and mode shapes of the aforesaid fluid-structure system are assessed.
