Abstract

Abstract: We advocate the hypothesis that school lacks an organism that values the specific content of human rights, based on the social relationships between stu-dents, teachers, family and staff, and directed towards the school’s daily educatio-nal practice. The goal is to emphasize the school’s fundamental role as a favorable environment to develop the awareness of a culture that values social inclusion with an emphasis on the school community’s political participation. Hence, the creation of a decision-making board that brings together students, parents, teachers and staff to discuss and propose human rights policies in school may promote citizenship, besides being a mediation space to drain grievances and resolve disputes, which will guide the decision-making process regarding the public sphere. It is expected, as a result, that the present work contributes to the implementation of strategies that enforce demands related to human rights in school and the strengthens an entire ne- twork of human rights guarantees.
