Abstract

In this paper a formal description is given of a 2D iterative geometric construction, which simulates a radiate accretive growth process. This type of growth process is found among species of various taxonomic classes of marine sessile organisms. With iterative geometric constructions it is possible to introduce the influence of the physical environment on the growth process, as well as geometric constraints. The iterative geometric construction which simulates the growth process of an organism with radiate accretive growth and the formation of branches, is formalized using an edge replacement system.
