Abstract
The Rare Books and Special Collections department at McGill University Library holds an original manuscript of a song by Gabriel Fauré. This article discusses the cataloguing of the manuscript, including the principles of cataloguing rare material, tracing provenance, and the decision-making process commonly known as “cataloguer’s judgement.”
