Abstract

Two species of agglutinated foraminifera are documented from the topmost Shepherd's Chine Member of the Vectis Formation (Wealden Group, Lower Cretaceous) of the Isle of Wight. These are abundant within a stratigraphically restricted interval which is traceable across the island. The foraminifera are interpreted as environmentally tolerant opportunists and supplement sedimentological and macrofaunal evidence for brackish-marine incursions into the Vectis Formation lagoon.
