Abstract

The non-locality and non-linearity of the atomic relativistic Hartree-Fock (RHF) equations have hampered the formulation of a consistent non-relativistic reduction. In the paper a reduction technique is presented that yields an RHF equation for which all terms are correct to second order in m-1. The results and techniques presented should be of use for practical calculations of atomic X-ray transition rates and energies.
