Abstract

A finite-difference scheme is derived for numerical solution of the eikonal scalar-field front propagation equation. The numerical scheme is implemented for the description of the dynamics of a flame surface propagating through a vortical flow field. Attributes of the numerical scheme are its accuracy and numerical stability when large velocity fluctuations in the flow are present, and the absence of explicit artificial viscosity.
