Abstract

A highly fluorinated bis-benzamide is readily prepared from a carboxylic acid bearing two perfluoalkyl-alkyl chains and a phenylendiamine. The bis-benzamide 2 gelates isopropanol at low concentration providing a thixotropic gel resulting from the formation of a network of highly rigid fibers. A gel of perfluorotributylamine stable at 4°C was also obtained using 2 at 10 mM concentration.
